Publishing Print Media: Exercise 3, Brochure Folding
November 07, 2017Lectures //
In class, we were split into groups to do our exercise. We were given a link to read through about 8 fold brochures and we had to draw inspiration from that and as well as our own research and imagination. We were allowed to cut and paste as we wish to come up with unlimited creations. I was in a group with Cherine, Yau Yi and Vicky.

Design Process //
Below are pictures that document our works.
Feedback //
Some of our designs are not really practical or usable because they are either too fancy or are not really 8-fold brochures; just "forced" to be 8-fold even though they do not suit it. However, some of our ideas are usable and can work. The simple designs were actually better in the end.
Reflections //
Experience:
It was a really fun exercise to do and it was funny how all the groups were "competing" with each other to make the most brochures or the best brochures, we actually all made a lot more than the minimum number given.
Observations:
I observed that doing this in a group made it easier to come up with a lot of ideas because we could all brainstorm ideas together and figure out folding methods as a team.
Findings:
I found that this exercise was actually very useful in the final brochure assignment because I utilized this technique to make 3D thumbnails of my brochure to help me plan it out before I began to make it digitally. This was very helpful in assisting me to choose which sort of fold and cut would suit my design best and how to layout everything.
